The presumption of conformity is a legal principle in conformity assessment. If a product complies with national standards (harmonized with corresponding European standards) listed and approved by the relevant ministry for a specific Technical Regulation, it is automatically presumed to comply with the essential safety requirements of that regulation.
Using these standards when compiling the technical file significantly simplifies the declaration of conformity procedure and reduces risks during market surveillance inspections.
